Prepare your body for pregnancy, with 30+ years of maternity care experience behind you.
The Nelson Threshold supports anyone planning to conceive in the next year, currently pregnant, or recovering postpartum — optimising your health, stabilising your weight, and working through metabolic concerns like PCOS, gestational diabetes (GDM), and metabolic syndrome, before, during, and after pregnancy.

About your coach
Hi, I'm Alison — registered midwife and health coach.
For over 30 years I've supported women and families through pregnancy and birth as a registered midwife. Along the way, I kept seeing the same thing: the months before pregnancy, and the months after birth, matter just as much as the pregnancy itself — yet they get the least support.
The Nelson Threshold was born from that gap. I now work with people who are planning to conceive, currently pregnant, or recovering postpartum, helping them optimise their health, stabilise their weight, and address metabolic concerns such as PCOS, gestational diabetes (GDM), and metabolic syndrome — so they feel prepared at every stage, not anxious.
What drives me is epigenetics: the health choices made before conception, and the metabolic health carried through pregnancy and beyond, don't just shape one pregnancy — they can influence the wellbeing of your child and even your grandchildren. Preparing and recovering well is one of the most powerful things you can do for the next two generations.

Is this you?
Coaching for preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum metabolic health.
You don't need to have a diagnosis to be my client — you just need to be planning for a baby, currently pregnant, or navigating your metabolic health after birth.
Planning to conceive within the next year

Recovering your metabolic health postpartum
You had GDM or metabolic syndrome during pregnancy and want a clear plan to recover your health after birth, for you and your future.
Wanting a knowledgeable, steady guide

I love this work. Every person I sit down with is at the start of something enormous — and getting to help them feel ready for it, rather than anxious, is why I do this.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Who is this coaching for?
Anyone planning to become pregnant, currently pregnant, or recovering postpartum — whether you're just starting to think about it, managing a fertility concern such as PCOS, or navigating gestational diabetes (GDM) or metabolic syndrome.
Do I need a diagnosis like PCOS or GDM to work with you?
No. Many clients simply want to optimise their health before conceiving. If you or your partner have a diagnosis such as PCOS, low sperm motility, GDM, or metabolic syndrome, I can tailor coaching around it alongside your medical care.
Are you able to give medical advice?
I bring over 30 years of midwifery experience to our sessions, but coaching is not a substitute for medical care. In the coaching space I do not order tests, prescribe, or diagnose. I'll always encourage you to stay connected with your GP, midwife, obstetrician, or fertility specialist for diagnosis and treatment.
Why are appointments limited?
I work on-call as a registered midwife alongside this coaching practice, so I intentionally keep client numbers small to give each person proper time and attention. Booking ahead is the best way to secure a slot.
How do I book?
Use the "Book a consultation" button below, which takes you to my online scheduler. If a time isn't available, you can also email me and I'll follow up as soon as I'm able.
